Thoughts on book "The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly".

The Hen Who Dreamed She Could Fly by Sun-mi Hwang

I would say, most women have the desire and intention to be a mother. Why most women? Because I believe a small percentage didn't because of responsibilities and dreams to give a better life to their parents and hence didn't have time and intention to think about marriage, of building a warm family with a man she loves, some of them might be transgender and would not beget children and some might be due to lose of hope of conceiving due to gynaecological problems.

But that couldn't stop a woman from being a mother. From enjoying motherhood. No one can stop a woman from adopting a child, to nurture the child, to love the child, to educate the child, and to dream for that child to use his full potential and build a better life than hers. Allah has granted such a beautiful gift to women ; Rahm. Anatomically, to hold and protect the next generation while inside her body, but exclusively for her ; the feeling and instinct to protect and love her child in no matter what condition.

She gives her life to her children so that they can live theirs.

She will give up her life for you to live. A mother is like a candle that is burning itself. "Bagai lilin membakar diri, terus menyala untuk menyinari kehidupan lain".

In this book, at first Sprout already lost some enthusiasm to become a mother when she could not lay eggs anymore after she was thrown out from the coop. But when she got the chance, she instinctively and voluntarily protected Straggler's egg, even though not from her kind, but it was raised as Sprout's son. She protected Baby from the wick weasel that always eyed for opportunity to gulp Baby down. She fought really hard against the weasel and then she realized that every creature was just trying to survive and to feed her family.

In the end, Sprout let Baby fly high as he reached adulthood and into his original flock : mallard. Sprout also let her soul fly away up to the sky, as she achieved her dreams and fulfilled her responsibilities as Baby's mother.
